As you ride about the internal areas you will pass though lots of flat farm lands and fields filled with dragon fruit trees that look like an image taken from a Dr. Seuss book.

Hidden amongst the tranquil and pretty farm villages are some the best home stays although little hard to find them as a few are down literally sand or dirt roads. Riding into the center of Ho Chi Minh City ( Saigon ) from the coastal beach town of Vung Tau on the R51 is also a much nicer way to go, less traffic and larger vehicles.

If you take the small coastal roads away from the 1A you will find lots of lovely little camping sites nestled amongst tree lined beaches. There is a very comprehensive description of the different camp sights with their locations listed on the Vietnam Coracle blog site

From Bà Rịa–Vũng Tau Province you can take a boat to visit the  Côn Đảo Islands a small cluster of 16 mountainous islands and islets. Many of the islands were given protected status in 1984 as part of Côn Đảo National Park. Find more info about theses islands here
