This region is rich with history and alive with traditional diverse ethic minorities the farther north you venture. Not to mention breathtaking landscapes.

Its countries capital Hanoi is a hub for busting modern youth culture and historical sites. The Old Quarter is full of boutique shops and trendy coffee houses and street curb food stands and bars. Daytime and nightlife are both a blend of the same bustling activities. Wether your interests are to see the historic monuments, temples and museums, eat the overwhelming amount of good street food venders offerings, do a little bit of tourist shopping, venturing though fruit, veg and odd and ends markets or enjoy night life activities Hanoi has it all.

It´s quirky layout is all within walking distance and split into four main quarters. The backpackers and my favorite being The Old Quarter. Several of the streets are car free and at night spill over with tiny plastic seating outside bars/food places that are popular with the local youth. There are often bands set up in the middle of the street, performances and I even spotted some fantastic cafe racers. If your thought Seattle was coffee bar central, think again as the Vietnamese love their coffee houses.
