Phan Thiết city, is the capital of Bình Thuận province, on the coast line, traditionally it´s a small fishing town where they make fish sauce.
Plenty of fishing villages dot this coastal area but growing local and foreign tourism bring is become its main source of income. The boom has brought many hotels, restaurants, resorts, guesthouses and shops have been constructed along the coastline.
The harbor is still full of fishing fleets and the coastal beaches covered in little round wooden pod shaped local fisherman’s boats.

There is a little amount of traffic on the roads along the coastline, so walking or riding or spending a day on the beach is quite and peaceful.

One of the most popular beaches is Mui Ne, it originally became a popular tourist destination with visiting Russian tourists and investors, they have mostly moved on to expand in Nha Trang.
There are still lots of bars and fancy resorts they are just now mostly filled with Chinese tourists looking for beach resorts. Towards La Gi are even smaller and quieter beaches, set well back from the main 1a road. Exploring this area you will find lots of hidden guest houses and camping sites. I stayed in a couple of places that are popular with local and Chinese tourist.

Most westerners favoring the more on the map places such as Nha Trang. Compared to the North this area is far more modern so finding delightful little guest houses randomly scattered about surrounding farm lands and beaches is definitely a more authentic way to explore this area.
