Van Hai Pass

Van Hai Pass bordering Thua Thien-Hue Province and Danang City climbs to an elevation of 496 m (1,627 ft) above sea level and stretches along Troung Son Range for 21km. The pass derives it´s name from the misty sea cloud coverage that hover around its mountain peeks, Hai Van meaning “Sea Clouds¨.

The weather fitting, the views to the North and to the South along this coastal line are amazing. As you approach the start of the pass coming from the North you cross a train track which is quite exciting if catch a passing train. Further on your climb along the impressive hair pin turns you will ride though a mass of greenery all which contrast with the ocean views below. About half way there´s a small pit stop at one of the peeks plateau and a tiny fort thats a short climb up to.

1509286_10154088510425087_78960579603265902_nIf your a gear head like me then its a must do ride just because of the fame generated by the BBC´s TV show Top Gear episode. With its sudden curves and blind corners, and steep incline its a fun quick ride but its tv infamy has put it on the biker to do list so it is now a destination of riders traveling along it with selfie sticks. Don´t let that put you off as its a lovely ride,  although you will find more challenging roads in the North.
